THE CREW

Captain KAI
Kai was born in the spring of 2013, near Morrisville, New York. He has gone through college, held three jobs, and made five moves, including a trip to Alaska and back with his friend Captain Jess.

He is known by many names: Kai, Kai Mani, Kai Monster, Kai Money, Kai Chapo, Kai-a-bunga, Bubba, Mediocre Mani, and occasionally, Very Good Boy. Kai enjoys long naps in the sun and spends his mornings exploring the local rocks and coconuts. Although he may not have as many lengthy romps or hikes, at almost 12 years old, this boy can still sprint at 20 mph and eat 3+ meals a day.

Captain JESS
Jess was born in Bedford, New Hampshire, and grew up between New Hampshire and Central New York. During high school, she spent a year in Ecuador, and shortly after, she realized that she would likely do the two things her parents had always advised her not to do. The following year, she got her first tattoo, started college, and met her best friend, Captain Kai.
Jess attended college in Syracuse and graduated with a degree in environmental engineering. After graduating, she lived in several different locations. In the summer of 2019, she moved to Anchorage, Alaska, not knowing anyone. Then, in March of 2020, the world shut down due to the pandemic. Despite the circumstances, the year one psycho met another, and they quickly fell in love.
Now, Jess spends her time cleaning Kai's front deck grass pad and playfully arguing with Alex about wearing clean clothes, all while working full-time as a water resources engineer and stream restoration practitioner.

Captain ALEX
Alex was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. He spent his childhood exploring the mountains and waters of southcentral and southwest Alaska as a feral child (this would maintained into his adulthood).
After high school, he moved to Los Angeles, California, to attend college, which marked the beginning of his successful scuba diving career. Following his time in California, Alex traveled across the United States before returning to Anchorage in 2018 to work alongside his family at Dive Alaska. In 2019, Alex conducted several apnea classes and later started outdoor apnea sessions during the pandemic to bring the Anchorage dive community together and promote freediving. Many believe he also started these classes to meet Captain Jess, with some suggesting it's a combination of both.
Now, Alex serves as both the master and servant of the boat. He is skilled at fixing anything that breaks down, having faced such challenges more than once. The phrase "jack of all trades" never fit an individual better.
